Authority structure
The Authority is governed by a Board comprising between five and seven members. The Board decides amendments to the Code.
The Authority has four Board committees with delegated responsibilities for specific areas of activity - the Audit and Finance Committee, the Compliance Committee, the System Operations Committee, and the Undesirable Trading Situation (UTS) Committee.
Five business groups, each headed by a General Manager, report to the Chief Executive.
To deliver its functions the Authority employs a small professional team of industry specialists in a range of disciplines, including economics, engineering, law, operations research and technology. Where necessary, external expert advice is contracted on a project-by-project basis.
The Authority also works closely with other Government agencies and departments on various aspects of its work programme. These include the Commerce Commission, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), Ministry for Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and the Ministry for the Environment.
