Code drafting manual
The Code is delegated legislation made in accordance with the Act. It is therefore appropriate that minimum standards of drafting be met before amendments to the Code are made. Accordingly, the Authority has prepared a Code Drafting Manual.
The Authority applies the Manual when drafting recommended amendments to the Code. It may also be useful to participants when proposing drafting amendments. The Manual follows commonly accepted legislative drafting principles, with modifications to ensure that it is tailored to the particular technical requirements of the Code. It is divided into four parts: Planning, Drafting Style, Formatting and Checking.
