Code amendments

Anyone may propose an amendment to the Code. The consultation charter includes practical guidance for people wanting to propose amendment to the Code. The consultation charter also sets out what to expect from the Authority when a Code amendment is proposed. A Code amendment proposal will be acknowledged within 1 week of the Authority receiving it, and an initial decision on how it will be categorised in the Authority's workplan will be advised within a maximum of 3 months.

The Authority prioritises its work through its work programme process, and allocates resources accordingly.  

This means that not all proposed Code amendment proposals will be progressed within the current Authority work programme and in some cases the proposal will not be progressed at all.  However, all proposals are carefully considered and recorded in the Code amendment register. The register is published regularly on this page to show which proposals are being progressed.

The Code amendment spreadsheet below lists all Code amendments that have been made, and may include some that are not yet in force. For each Code amendment it lists:

• the name of the Code amendment;
• the Parts of the Code affected by the Code amendments;
• the date of the Gazette notice; and
• the date on which the Code amendment will come into force.
