Distributed Generation
The general purpose of Part 6 of the Code is to "enable connection of distributed generation if connection is consistent with connection and operation standards". The Code mandates the application and approval process between the prospective generator and the distributor (i.e. the network operator). The Code also provides default terms of connection, dispute resolution processes and pricing principles, though the parties can contract out of these by mutual agreement.
One of the specific obligations on distributors is annual reporting of statistics pertaining to connections under the Part 6 of the Code.
The form for annual reporting is available below.
The Authority is responsible for the administration and development of Part 6 of the Code. This includes monitoring compliance and, where appropriate, taking enforcement action. The Authority has, in some circumstances, a role in dispute resolution between generators and distributors.
