Wholesale Information Trading System market operation service provider

WITS is the electricity market wholesale information and trading platform used by electricity market participants to upload their bids and offers. WITS also delivers pricing, scheduling and other market data. The information within the WITS system is available to participants who trade in the electricity wholesale market or by special arrangement with NZX. NZX is contracted as the Wholesale Information and Trading System Manager.

Non-trading and non-confidential information within WITS is publicly available via a website to interested parties. This is intended for people who require more detailed regular market information than what is currently available via electricityinfo.co.nz.

Casual users are encouraged to continue accessing information via electricityinfo.co.nz.

Any parties interested in having access to WITS should complete the application form - see related documents - and the send the form to marketoperations@ea.govt.nz with the subject header 'WITS application'. New users will then be required to sign a Use of System Agreement with NXZ. In considering the applications, certain criteria will need to be satisfied before the Authority will grant access.
