Annual Reviews

The Authority will conduct annual reviews of market performance. The purpose of producing these reviews is to highlight important events and trends during the year and to summarise the work of the Authority in monitoring and facilitating market performance.

Electricity market performance - A review of 2012 

The Authority has published its second yearly review of the market - Electricity market performance – A review of 2012. 

There are three highlights in the review:

• increased competition in the retail market
• increased activity on the ASX futures market
• improved hydro management by the sector in response to the 2012 dry winter.

Electricity market performance 2010-2011 in review

The first annual report assesses market performance during the Electricity Authority's first year, from 1 November 2010 until 31 October 2011.This first edition serves the purpose of scene setting - recording the environment at the time of the Authority's establishment and developments over the succeeding 12 months. Future reviews will apply a more technical lens to analysing market behaviour, monitoring activity and measuring performance against this baseline.
