Previous ancillary service rates

Between September 2003 and 30 September 2010 this area was the responsibility of the Electricity Commission in accordance with the Electricity Governance Rules & Regulations (Rules) 2003.
Clause 8.67 of the code requires the system operator to set, annually in advance, the Peak Rate and the Penalty Rate for each zone used to allocate voltage support costs. This page contains the ancillary service rates from 2006 - 2010.

2010 rates

For the 12 months commencing 1 March 2010, the rates determined according to this methodology were:

Peak rate 156 c/kvar

Penalty rate 241 c/kvar

2009 rates

For the 12 months commencing 1 March 2009, the rates determined according to this methodology were:

Zone 1

Peak rate 152 c/kvar

Penalty rate 229 c/kvar

2008 rates

For the 12 months commencing 1 March 2008, the rates determined according to the above methodology were:

Peak rate 180 c/kvar

Penalty rate 229 c/kvar

2007 rates

For the 12 months commencing 1 March 2007, the rates determined according to the above methodology were:
