Security of supply policies

Under the Electricity Industry Participation Code, the System Operator must prepare and publish a security of supply forecasting and information policy (SOSFIP), an emergency management policy (EMP), and a system operator rolling outage plan (SOROP).

The SOSFIP, EMP and SOROP documents can be found on The Code page in the Act, Code and Regulations section.

The SOSFIP sets out the requirements for the system operator to carry out an Annual Security Assessment (ASA).  When carrying out this ASA the system operator must use the assumptions set out in Security Standards Assumptions Document (SSAD) published by the Authority.

The Authority consulted in July 2012 on the winter energy and capacity security of supply standards to be used by the system operator in its ASA. The amended standards came into force on 20 December 2012.
