The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for advising the Chief Executive on overall organisational direction of Authority operational functions, ensuring quality and consistency of strategy, support and systems in ways that ensure the influence of your leadership role has maximum impact.

You will have an extensive working knowledge of a broad range of processes related to the operations of a regulatory environment; you will have led complex multi-stream work programmes across a number of specialist areas, you will have a solid understanding of the current energy sector, its challenges and opportunities and you will be an established and talented leader who is able to balance organisational requirements (management of people, finances and resources) with navigating complex political and stakeholder relationships to deliver excellent outcomes.

Marketing and Communications Adviser

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the Authority’s consumer facing campaigns and work with the Communications team to educate consumers about electricity in New Zealand.

You will provide support and direction for the What’s My Number campaign, working with creative agencies to support and develop existing campaigns, as well as explore new opportunities. This will involve working closely with other agencies, and using a mix of digital and more traditional channels.

You will also work closely with operational groups across the organisation providing advice and input to consumer facing activities.

To catch our eye for this role, you will be a marketing and/or communications practitioner with 3-5 years’ experience including the development and implementation of campaigns. Digitally literate with experience integrating marketing and communications activity with all digital channels, you will be a strong writer and story teller.

The Electricity Authority is an independent Crown entity responsible for the efficient operation and development of the New Zealand electricity market. As the electricity market regulator, we promote competition in, reliable supply by, and the efficient operation of, the electricity industry for the long-term benefit of consumers.

In this role as a key member of the Market Design group, we are seeking an experienced professional to apply well proven capabilities in economics to challenging electricity sector issues. Reporting to the Manager Network Pricing, this position calls for an exceptional contributor to provide expert advice based on rigorous analysis of complex regulatory issues, to the Chief Executive, Board, advisory groups and other key stakeholders. The development of policy and regulation on electricity issues is an integral component of this role.

The successful person for this role will have a degree in economics and a proven track record of regulatory/policy analysis. A demonstrated ability in producing high quality written advice is critical. Strong relationship management attributes are also essential.
