The Electricity Governance Regulations 2003 (Regulations) and the Electricity Governance Rules 2003 (Rules) were introduced in December 2003.
The set of rules was inherited from the electricity industry's self-governing arrangements which existed prior to the Commission's establishment in September 2003. The Commission was charged with developing the rules and regulations to ensure best conditions existed for workable and effective competition and to ensure that the government's other objectives for the electricity sector were met.
The Regulations and Rules were revoked from 1 November 2010 by the Electricity Industry Act 2010.
