If you think your bill is too high, check What’s My Number to see if you could save money by moving to another retailer.

There are also lots of simple things you can do to use less electricity around your house.

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (ECCA) has a helpful list of energy reduction tips including ways to save on your hot water, lighting and how to use your appliances more efficiently.

Choosing energy efficient products is key to saving money on electricity.

The Energy Rating Label, which show stars on the label, lets people compare the energy efficiency of similar appliances. The more stars, the more efficient a model is.

You can also avoid power hungry appliances by using EECA’s Rightware tool to find the most efficient products.

What does the Authority do?

We monitor the electricity market. We keep track of what is causing price increases. In recent years price increases have mostly been caused by increases in the monopoly parts of the sector (distribution and transmission). We also manage the What’s My Number website which lets you quickly compare retail brands.
