We are reviewing aspects of the settings for OCCs. In particular, consideration is being given to:

  • OCC start and stop triggers
  • Whether to retain both National and Sub-national (currently South Island) OCCs
  • Whether any modification to the Reserve Supply Determination is required.

The system operator is undertaking a review of the security of supply forecasting and information policy (SOSFIP), which provides the Hydro Risk Curves which are associated with the operation of OCCs. Because of the inter-relationship between the reviews of the SOSFIP and the OCCs, we will publish our consultation paper to coincide with the timing of the system operator’s consultation on the SOSFIP.
