Cross-submissions open on our connection pricing and processes proposals

  • Distribution
  • Code

Submissions on the proposed rule changes for distribution connection pricing and the application processes to connect are now available on our website.

We invite all interested parties to read the submissions and if they wish, respond with a cross-submission on one or both sets of proposals from the two consultation papers.

Proposals in the ‘Distribution connection pricing proposed Code amendment’ consultation paper would improve connection pricing methodologies so they are more efficient and have greater consistency across distributors.

Proposals in the ‘Network connection project – stage one’ consultation paper would improve the efficiency of connecting to the distribution network and upgrading existing connections.

Cross-submissions for both sets of proposals must be sent to connection.feedback@ea.govt.nz by 5pm, Friday 24 January 2025. Please write the name of the consultation paper in the email subject line to indicate which set of proposals you are providing a cross-submission on.

We have also published some frequently asked questions about the ‘Distribution connection pricing’ proposals to support cross-submissions on these proposals. Most of these are questions put to us at a recent Electricity Networks Aotearoa event – we thought it beneficial to make the information available to everyone.

For any questions on either set of proposals, please contact connection.feedback@ea.govt.nz
