Request for retailers to update their contact details in the Participant register

  • Retail
  • Compliance

The Electricity Industry Act 2010 (Act) requires every industry participant to register and maintain their details in the Participant register.

The Electricity Authority is asking all retailers to check their contact details are correct in the register. This is to ensure we are communicating with the right people about compliance reporting requirements under the new Consumer Care Obligations.

Under the Obligations, retailers that sell electricity to residential consumers must submit a compliance report within three months of 30 June 2025. This replaces the alignment report required under the previous Consumer Care Guidelines.

You can view and update your details by signing into the Participant register. Failure to keep this information up to date is an offence under the Act.

If you have any questions, please contact participantregister@ea.govt.nz
