Alignment statements due for Consumer Care Guidelines this Friday 9 August
- Policy
- Retail
This is the last week for retailers who supply electricity, used fully or partly for domestic purposes, to provide their Consumer Care Guidelines annual alignment statements for 2023/24 by 5pm, 9 August 2024.
As the Electricity Authority work towards mandating the Guidelines by 1 January 2025, we expect retailers to either remain in alignment with the current voluntary Guidelines, or for those not already in alignment, to take all possible steps to achieve this.
“The annual alignment statements for 2023/24 support the Authority’s monitoring activities and provide assurance to consumers that their retailer is committed to the Guidelines,” says Market Policy General Manager, Andrew Millar.
“It will also help retailers in their preparation to be compliant with the mandated Guidelines come 1 January 2025. We will report our findings from the alignment statements later in the year.”
This will be the final report under the voluntary Guidelines, with new compliance reporting in 2025.
Retailers should complete their alignment statements using the Authority’s Information Provision platform. Instructions have been emailed to the primary contact/s of retail participants (in the Participant register).
If you have any questions, have not received the instructions, or need assistance, please contact retailpolicy@ea.govt.nz.
