Have your questions answered on new rules for connection pricing and application processes
- Distribution
- Code
We’re holding two online sessions in September about the upcoming new rules to improve connection pricing methodologies and the application processes for connecting to networks.
Both sessions will be useful to distributors who are required to implement the new rules and those wanting to connect to the network or upgrade an existing connection.
The two sets of new rules were announced in July 2025 as the first steps towards unlocking connection barriers to support electrification.
More efficient connection pricing methodologies
At 9.30am, Thursday 11 September, we are holding the first of our monthly connection pricing Q&A sessions. These online sessions are an opportunity to ask questions about the new rules to improve connection pricing methodologies and troubleshoot any implementation concerns. The new rules are detailed in this decision paper and are being phased in from 1 April 2026.
We will hold these sessions around the same time every month for the next three months, and will add additional sessions if there’s enough interest. You will need to register ahead of the session to receive the Microsoft Teams link. Please share any questions you’d like answered when you complete the registration form.
Improved application processes
We’re holding a webinar, 10.30–11.30am, Friday 19 September, to talk more about the new rules that support faster, easier and more efficient application processes when wanting to connect to the network. Attendees will also be able to ask questions about the new rules, including implementation.
The new rules are detailed in this decision paper and come into effect from late 2026.
We also intend to take comments and questions about the Code drafting to support these new rules. The draft Code is expected to be released for technical feedback in early September.
