How we manage the information in our care
- Corporate
- Legal
We are committed to managing the information in our care responsibly and supporting regulatory certainty for market participants. Our Information management policy outlines the guidelines we follow when we collect, use and disclose information.
To regulate the electricity industry effectively and in the best interests of consumers, we collect information from participants and consumers using a number of approaches.
- We collect information from publicly available sources, including information made public in accordance with the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code), through applications made by industry participants, and responses to our requests for information or consultation submissions.
- We’re also empowered to collect information under the terms of agreements with service providers, as well as under the Code, Electricity Industry (Enforcement) Regulations 2010, and Electricity Industry Act 2010.
Our Information management policy explains how the Authority collects, uses and shares information.
We continue work to make it as easy as possible for consumers and industry participants to share information with us. We’re looking to introduce greater standardisation in the way we receive information where it makes sense to do so.
