  • Strategy

We will be hosting a webinar on Thursday 24 July to support our consultation on The future operation of New Zealand’s power system.

The webinar will take place from 12.00pm - 1.00pm.

Register for the webinar

All stakeholders and interested parties are invited to attend the session, which will include an overview of the consultation paper, and we will answer your questions.

Our issues and options paper identifies three key issues:

  • the importance of the consumer to the operation of the power system
  • the need for better coordination of distribution system operation (DSO) where consumer-owned distributed energy resources are connected to distribution networks; and
  • the need for more certainty on who should perform certain new DSO functions.

The paper also puts forward three models of allocating DSO functions between the system operator and distributors, seeks feedback on these options and whether other models should also be considered.

Submissions are due by 5pm, Tuesday 19 August.
