- Strategy
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has published its Four-monthly report to the Minister of Energy and Resources and Annual corporate plan progress report.
Our achievements from 1 March to 30 June 2023 include:
- going live with Real-time pricing
- establishing a technical group to support the review of Part 8 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code (Code)
- completing a wholesale market review and implementing its recommendations
- amending the Code to address the potential for inefficient price discrimination in very large contracts
- implementing four options to better manage potential supply issues during peak demand periods for winter 2023
- approving two exemptions to the Code to facilitate an energy sharing trial led by Kāinga Ora and Ara Ake
- developing a memorandum of understanding with the Consumer Advocacy Council.
We achieved our desired outcome for eight of the nine activity areas in our Annual corporate plan 2022/23. The one activity in which we did not achieve our desired outcome was related to the launch of a compliance education programme, which was affected by resourcing constraints as we prioritised reducing our backlog of compliance cases. We have since recruited a Principal Advisor to meet our outcome by developing and executing a compliance education programme.
The Four-monthly report to the Minister also covers our organisational development, financial information and audit and risk matters.
