Power Innovation Pathway

Applications open soon for Power Innovation Pathway’s next priority round

  • Innovation

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko will open applications for its second priority round of the Power Innovation Pathway (Pathway) on Monday 29 September.

The Pathway is our ‘open front door’ for innovators wanting easy access to regulatory information and support to bring fresh ideas to market faster, to deliver significant benefit to consumers and communities across Aotearoa.

While the Pathway is always open to applications for general regulatory support, this priority round offers the opportunity to be selected for an enhanced support programme, which provides:

  • Support scoping real-world trials to inform regulatory activities
  • Access to regulatory experts as pilot observers
  • Assistance identifying and understanding regulatory barriers
  • Guidance on the Code exemptions process.

If you're working on a scalable energy product, service or business model that has the potential to benefit consumers, we want to hear from you – applications open on our website on Monday 29 September and close on Friday 31 October.

We will review and respond to all applications and choose a select number of initiatives for enhanced regulatory support, based on their alignment with our strategic objectives and potential to benefit the electricity system and consumers.

Since launching in 2024, the Pathway has provided enhanced support to eight high-value initiatives and helped over 80 innovators navigate the regulatory environment.
