Late last year the Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko consulted on a package of changes to reduce the time and cost to connect infrastructure such as public EV charging stations, manufacturing, and solar farms.

We are now preparing to release our decisions on these proposals and invite you to join us for an online briefing.

The decision papers will be on the Electricity Authority webpages, linked above, at 8am on the day of the webinar.

At the webinar, Authority staff will talk through the feedback received, new rules, modifications to the original proposals following feedback, and next steps.

These decisions are the first stages of reforming connection pricing and application processes for those seeking new or upgraded connections to distribution networks.

Connecting to distribution networks is an essential part of developing new housing, electrifying our energy use and growing the New Zealand economy. Without the right rules in place, we risk higher-up front costs, more inefficiencies, less investment, fewer developments – and all New Zealanders losing out in the long run.
