Consultation

The Ancillary services procurement plan sets out the principles and process that the system operator will apply and follow in their purchases. The Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 requires the system operator to conduct a full review of the Ancillary services procurement plan at least once every two years.

From 9 November to 7 December 2021, we consulter on the system operators proposal to replace the procurement plan.

We received two supportive submissions on the proposed changes. On 29 March 2022 we decided to replace the system operator’s Ancillary services procurement plan in its entirety.

This decision paper explains the changes and our rationale for approving them. The replaced procurement plan will take effect on 3 May 2022. Replacement of the entire procurement plan is an option available when extensive amendments are made.
