Explanatory note

This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This amendment to the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 comes into force on 31 July 2025.

The amendment amends clause 1.1 and Subparts 1 and 2 of Part 13 of the Code to implement hybrid forecasting arrangements for intermittent generators.

The amendment:

  • updates requirements for intermittent generators when submitting offers for trading periods in which the intermittent generator is prepared to sell electricity
  • specifies when the first offer for a trading period must be made
  • requires that offers include a forecast of generation potential
  • specifies that a forecast of generation potential must use an approved forecast provided by an approved forecaster adjusted as necessary for any bona fide physical reason or planned outage
  • provides for the Authority to agree use of an alternative self-forecast in place of an approved forecast, adjusted as necessary for any bona fide physical reason or planned outage
  • requires intermittent generators to report adjustments to forecasts of generation potential
  • specifies how often forecasts of generation potential must be provided, and
  • makes consequential amendments related to the above.
