Code finalised to make connecting to networks faster and easier

  • Distribution
  • Code

We have finalised the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code) giving effect to new requirements that improve the application processes for connecting to networks.

This follows a technical consultation in September and October 2025 where we sought feedback on the draft Code wording.

Our technical decision paper outlines the minor amendments we have made to ensure the wording accurately reflects the policy intent, improves workability and clarifies some key terms.

The new requirements complete stage one of our Network connections project, which makes connecting to networks easier, faster, more equitable and more consistent across New Zealand.

The requirements are detailed in the Network connections project stage one decision paper, released in July 2025 and will start coming into effect from 1 December 2026.
