Complete our survey on barriers to developing new power generation

  • Generation
  • Innovation

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko invites developers to complete a short survey about barriers to progressing new electricity generation projects, to help inform and prioritise our ongoing work to strengthen security of supply.

We want to hear from those who have progressed new generation developments to completion, are mid-development, and have had plans but cancelled them.

The insights captured through this survey will build on the more comprehensive generation investment surveys we ran in 2022 and 2023, and subsequent discussions with participants.

The Authority supports increased investment in electricity generation to help meet the demands of New Zealanders in the future. We encourage anyone involved in new generation development to share their insights with us to support us in our work in this area.

The survey ran for three weeks in April, but following a request from a survey respondent, we have re-opened the survey for a further two weeks. Please share the survey to anyone who you think might be interested in sharing their views.

The survey will close at 5pm, Monday 12 May 2025.

We will publish high-level survey findings on our website. Data will be aggregated and any written answers we publish will be anonymised.
