Feedback sought on proposed SOSFIP changes
- Policy
- Wholesale
The System Operator has begun consultation on proposed changes to its Security of Supply Forecasting and Information Policy (SOSFIP).
The SOSFIP describes how Transpower, as the System Operator, prepares and publishes information to assist participants to manage security of supply risks. It is drafted by the System Operator and subject to approval by the Authority.
The proposed changes include clarification about when generators may access contingent storage and have been shaped by feedback on an earlier consultation.
Submissions are due by 5pm on Tuesday 4 November 2025 followed by a one-week period for cross-submissions.
The consultation is on the Transpower website along with information on how to make a submission.
The Authority expects to make a final decision on any changes it will authorise to the policy in December, with the new rules taking effect from early 2026.
