Each month the Electricity Authority publishes a hedge market summary report for the previous calendar month. View the January 2026 report
Most ASX future prices decreased throughout January 2026. Q1 2026 futures decreased most in price by $67/MWh at Ōtāhuhu and $49/MWh at Benmore due to high hydro storage and above average hydro inflows in January.
We publish these reports in the interests of transparency, and so that market participants feel confident they have the information they need about pricing, trading volume and market trends across the ASX and over-the-counter hedge markets.
