Interested in learning more about how emissions units are applied to emissions-intensive, trade exposed businesses?

  • Low emissions

On 4 April we're hosting a webinar for people interested in how the Electricity Allocation Factor is used to determine how many emissions units are allocated to emissions-intensive, trade exposed businesses. The Electricity Allocation Factor is an estimate of the effect of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme on wholesale electricity prices.

The Electricity Authority (Authority) is required to calculate the Electricity Allocation Factor on an annual basis and notify the Minister of Climate Change on or before 31 July each year. For 2025, the Authority will continue to apply the methodology that was confirmed in 2024.

The webinar will be held 10-11am, Friday 4 April and will cover:

  • what the Electricity Allocation Factor is
  • the Authority’s role in determining it
  • the methodology we use.
