New dashboard tracks thermal fuels availability
- Distribution
- Generation
We have created a new thermal fuel dashboard to track the availability of thermal fuel (gas, solid fuel and diesel) for electricity generation. The data will be updated every month.
Information on how much thermal fuel is available to support the electricity system is important for understanding security of supply risks. It could also help market participants to make informed risk management decisions, as we head into winter 2025 and beyond.
The data underlying the dashboard is provided to the Electricity Authority by thermal generators under clause 2.16 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010. The dashboard should not be considered in isolation but instead within the broader energy context, including public announcements by thermal generators about the availability of thermal fuels.
The dashboard itself has some further caveats that are important for users to bear in mind.
