Quarterly report to the Minister for Energy, April to June 2025

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko’s latest quarterly report to the Minister for Energy, Simon Watts, summarises what we achieved from 1 April to 30 June 2025.
The report shows that we continued to deliver against the activities outlined in our Statement of performance expectations 2024/25 (amended), with 14 out of 15 performance measures achieved and 23 out of 24 market development activities completed.
Highlights from this reporting period include:
- announcement of Energy Competition Task Force initiatives to give New Zealanders more choice in using, buying and selling electricity
- a real-time thermal fuel dashboard delivering critical insights to support energy security
- a new retail price dashboard and bill infographic shining a light on regional power prices and bill breakdowns
- launched a digitalisation green paper exploring how tech and data can empower consumers with more choice and flexibility
- started industry-wide conversation around decentralisation focusing on affordability, security and decarbonisation.
The report includes mapping to show how our activities align with the Statement of Government Policy for the electricity industry.
