Task Force work programme 2026
Consultation
This consultation seeks your views on potential competition issues in the electricity sector. Your feedback will help the Electricity Authority and Commerce Commission shape the Energy Competition Task Force’s 2026 work programme, to ensure the best outcomes for competition and New Zealand consumers.
The Task Force has been exploring the possible scope of projects it could deliver in 2026. This open letter outlines its early thinking about potential projects and areas of focus.
We invite your feedback on these proposed projects and focus areas, and welcome any additional ideas you think the Task Force should consider. We will refine, scope and prioritise this work alongside your submissions before any decisions are made on the final work programme.
Note: on 22 January we extended the deadline for feedback from 30 January to 9 February 2026.

We intend to publish feedback we receive unless there is a clear and explicit request to not publish it due to confidentiality or commercial sensitivity. We will consider any such requests on their merits.
If you consider we should not publish any part of your submission, please:
