Explanatory note

This amendment to the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 ("Code") comes into force on 9 October 2015.

The amendment makes changes to Schedule 11.3 of the Code to require a losing trader in the switch of a customer or embedded generator to a gaining trader, to use a switch event meter reading derived from advanced metering infrastructure ("AMI") information, if AMI information is available. The amendment also changes some of the time frames within which losing traders must provide information to the registry.

The amendment also makes a range of other changes to Schedule 11.3, including:

(a) amendments to resolve unforeseen effects of the drafting of the Electricity Industry Participation Code Amendment (ICP Switching) 2014;

(b) amendments to resolve an existing problem with the sequencing of steps in the standard switch process;

(c) consequential amendments to the amendments described above; and

(d) amendments to improve drafting and general readability.
