Explanatory note
This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This amendment to the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (“Code”) comes into force on 1 June 2025.
The amendment amends Parts 1 and 11 of the Code as part of the Electricity Authority’s Code amendment omnibus number four to:
a. prevent retailers from charging consumers a fee to respond to the first 12 requests from a consumer for access to their electricity information in the 12 month period before 1 June 2026, and to prevent retailers from charging consumers any fee for all such requests that consumers make after that period; and
b. clarify what electricity information is to be provided to consumers upon request.
