The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko invites cross-submissions on its consultation to enhance and clarify dispatch notification.

We would like to thank all submitters who have provided input so far. View submissions.

We look forward to receiving cross-submissions to OperationsConsult@ea.govt.nz by 5pm on Friday 13 October 2023.

The dispatch notification product provides a low-cost path for inclusion of small-scale resources in the wholesale electricity spot market. This consultation seeks feedback on our proposals to:

  1. enhance the dispatch notification product by enabling load aggregators with resources spread across several locations (grid exit points or GXPs) to apply to the system operator to bid an aggregate of their resources at a single GXP
  2. clarify that obligations on dispatch notification purchasers only impact Part 13 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 relating to trading arrangements (and in particular there are no reconciliation requirements specific to dispatch notification participants)
  3. clarify that participants in dispatch notification will need to provide appropriate data to the Authority to enable us to monitor compliance.
