Future Security and Resilience roadmap updated

  • Consumers
  • Policy

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko (Authority) has updated its Future Security and Resilience roadmap to reflect progress since it was first published in 2022.

The roadmap also updates timeframes and priorities to note changes in the electricity sector and the Authority’s evolving priorities.

It continues to provide a long-term view of the Authority’s Future Security and Resilience work programme, helping industry prepare for upcoming policy, regulatory and operational work that supports a reliable and secure electricity system.

The update also incorporates the Authority’s Future System Operation work, recognising the growing role of distributed energy resources and the need for greater coordination across transmission and distribution networks as the electricity system evolves.

We invite feedback on the updated roadmap via fsr@ea.govt.nz until 5pm, Tuesday 8 December 2026.
