Hedge disclosure certificates due by 30 June

  • Wholesale
  • Compliance

Participants in the hedge market are required to submit an annual hedge disclosure certificate and must do so by 30 June 2026 under clause 13.230 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code.

The hedge market is a key part of the wholesale electricity market. It provides transparent and robust forward price signals and enables participants to manage their exposure to the spot market. If a party purchases a contract that reduces their financial risk, this is called hedging.

The Code requires participants who buy or sell hedge contracts to submit certain information to the Authority. Every participant who submitted hedge information during the year ending 31 March 2026 must certify that the information submitted to the Authority was correct.

Please complete the hedge disclosure certification form and submit your signed certificate on company letterhead by 30 June 2026 to compliance@ea.govt.nz.
