We are encouraging all retailers to attend an information session next week to ensure they are ready for the new mandatory reporting that starts in August 2025.

The session will be on Thursday 12 June 2.30-4.00pm, online or in person at our Auckland or Wellington offices.

The session will cover:

  • How to prepare for the new data submission
  • How to submit data via Secure File Transfer Protocol
  • How to test the process (in advance of the first data submission on 31 August)
  • Frequently asked questions

To attend, please email retaildata@ea.govt.nz stating your interest.

We have introduced mandatory retailer reporting of domestic and small business customer data to help increase transparency and accountability in New Zealand’s retail electricity market.

Retailers are required to submit data from 1 January to 31 July 2025 under the new retail market monitoring clause 2.16 information notice by 31 August 2025. Following this, data will need to be submitted on a monthly basis.
