New rules to improve application processes for network connections: technical consultation opens

  • Distribution
  • Code

We are inviting feedback on the draft Code for recently announced new rules that make it easier and faster to connect to the electricity network, or to upgrade an existing connection.

Feedback on this technical consultation is due by 5pm, Tuesday 7 October 2025.

Network connections project (stage one) technical consultation

The purpose of this technical consultation is not to revisit policy decisions, but to ensure the Code accurately reflects the decisions set out in the Authority’s decision paper.

We are also interested in any Code drafting issues such as errors, omissions and suggested corrections.

This provides an opportunity for stakeholders to engage with the complexity of the drafting, and consider changes to the proposed drafting, which was included in the original consultation paper late last year.

Join our webinar

We are holding a webinar at 10.30–11.30am, 19 September 2025 to talk through the new rules and answer questions. About the webinar and how to register

This technical consultation is part of stage one of the ‘Network connections project’ to make it easier, faster, more equitable and more consistent across the country to connect large electricity users and distributed generation to networks.
