Registrations open: Exploring network visibility workshop
- Distribution
We’re inviting you to join us for our ‘Exploring network visibility’ workshop in Wellington on 18 September 2025.
We consider ‘network visibility’ – where information about network constraints and capacity is publicly available – could bring important benefits to a range of parties. For example, it could:
- support access seekers’ decisions about where to request a new or upgraded connection
- inform investment decisions about the installation of distributed energy resources
- help identify where on the network distributed energy resources and non-network assets can provide value
In the workshop, we’ll explore some of the underlying concepts, hear from others, and seek feedback to test our early thinking.
We’ll publish a short paper in early September to outline the key concepts and questions we’ll explore in the workshop. This will include a form to provide written feedback, regardless of if you’re able to join on the day.
Workshop details
What: Exploring network visibility: the costs, benefits and value of understanding network constraints and capacity
Where: Wellington Airport Conference Centre, Wellington
When: 10am–3pm, Thursday 18 September 2025, optional networking afterwards
Numbers are limited, so we ask organisations to have no more than two representatives join on the day.
There is no option to join remotely. However, the workshop materials, including a summary of participants’ feedback, will be published on our website and can be used to inform written feedback.
Register your interest by emailing distribution.feedback@ea.govt.nz with ‘Network visibility workshop registration’. We’ll send you an email once we’ve confirmed your spot.
This work is part of the Authority’s broader work to support New Zealand’s transition to a smarter, more connected and data-driven energy system.
Visit Transitioning to a more digital electricity system for more about this broader work, including the series of workshops we’re holding in September 2025.
