Stress test disclosures due next month
- Wholesale
- Compliance
The spot price risk disclosure (stress testing) regime requires certain participants in the wholesale electricity market to assess their financial exposure to hypothetical movements in electricity spot prices and report the results each quarter.
The stress testing regime applies to disclosing participants that consume electricity directly from the national grid or purchase electricity from the Clearing Manager. A stress test disclosure must also be submitted for any quarter in which the participant expects to buy electricity from, or sell electricity to, the Clearing Manager during the period to which the disclosure relates.
The disclosures for the fourth quarter of 2026 are due on Thursday 24 September 2026, which is five business days before the start of the quarter to which the disclosure relates.
Disclosing participants need to report their results to their Board and to the NZX, in its role as the independent Registrar appointed by the Electricity Authority.
Aggregated stress test results from previous quarters are available on our website.
