The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has published submissions on its Code amendment omnibus #5 consultation.
We consulted on three amendments to the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 to:
- Update the stress test regime to reduce risk to consumers and security of supply
- Extend trader default provisions to all retailers to protect customers
- Introduce a back-up means of calculating wholesale prices to improve market confidence.
We would like to thank the eight submitters for taking the time to send us your feedback:
- Electricity Retailers’ Association of New Zealand
- Genesis Energy
- Mercury Energy
- Meridian Energy
- Major Electricity Users’ Group
- New Zealand Steel
- Octopus Energy
- Transpower.
We are considering all submissions and expect to make a decision on the proposed Code amendments in April 2025.
