Improving access to thermal fuel information
Improving information on the availability of thermal fuels.
Overview
We have decided to introduce new requirements for the provision of thermal fuels information to the Authority. These requirements and our approach to publication is set out in the clause 2.16 notice, effective 1 April 2025. Thermal generators are required to provide information on their fuel availability weekly, through the Authority’s information provision platform.
The first provision of data is due on 9 April. We will publish a subset of this information on the EMI website from early May 2025.

Background
There is an absence of systematic and timely data about thermal fuel availability, which inhibits the ability of the Authority to undertake its functions and for market participants to make fully informed risk management decisions. This project aims to improve the collection and publication of information on the availability of thermal fuels.
