October 2026 Code amendments

This survey covers readiness for the following Code amendments:

1. Requiring use of half-hourly data for reconciliation (note two minor corrections to the Code amendment) – effective 1 October 2026
2. Improving pricing plan options for consumers (Category B requirements) – effective 1 October 2026
3. Improving electricity billing in New Zealand – effective 30 October 2026
4. Improving access to product information – effective 30 October 2026

For each Code amendment, you will be asked a common set of questions about implementation progress, readiness, risks, dependencies and support requirements.

Note this survey does not change our expectation that retailers will comply with the Code from the relevant effective dates. While exemptions are available under the Code, they are unlikely to be granted solely to extend compliance timeframes, except in exceptional circumstances. However, our Compliance Strategy and Enforcement and Prosecution Policy provide some flexibility in how non-compliance is addressed, setting out our enforcement criteria and use of our enforcement tools, including taking an educative approach where appropriate.
