The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has made four appointments to the Security and Reliability Council to provide advice on reliability of supply, and the performance of the electricity system and system operator.

Following a call for nominations and candidate assessment, we have re-appointed Hon. Heather Roy as the independent Chair and re-appointed Chris Ewers (General Manager Wholesale, Meridian Energy) as a member.

The Authority has also appointed two new members:

  • David Binnie: Head of Biomass Development, Genesis Energy
  • Steve Duggan: Chief Commercial and Financial Officer, NZ Steel.

The appointments are for three-year terms, effective from 1 April 2025.

The Council’s next meeting is on 27 February 2025. A summary of the meeting, the papers considered and minutes will be published on our website.
