Authority issues RFP for five MOSP contracts

  • Wholesale

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko (Authority) has initiated a competitive single-stage procurement process by issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for five Market Operation Service Provider (MOSP) services. The current MOSP contracts expire on 30 June 2027.

The Authority contracts a set of service providers to deliver services that support the efficient functioning of New Zealand’s electricity market. These services are critical for market integrity, settlement accuracy, and transparency.

These services are a major component of the levy funding the market system. In 2025/26, the five MOSP services we are procuring cost approximately $7 million.

They are long-term contracts, with a proposed term of up to nine years: an initial three-year term plus up to two three-year extensions.

The procurement of the next MOSP contracts provides a significant opportunity for one or more suppliers to play a vital role in the efficient operation of New Zealand’s electricity market. High-quality delivery of these critical services will deliver positive outcomes for all New Zealanders.

More information can be found on the New Zealand Government Electronic Tender Service (GETS).

Interested parties must register and subscribe to the GETS notice to access procurement documentation and receive updates. The Authority cannot engage outside the GETS process.
