Consultation open on common quality information requirements
- Transmission
- Code
We are seeking feedback on a Code amendment proposal that would ensure the system operator has timely access to accurate information for assets connecting or connected to the power system.
The proposed Code amendment would benefit consumers by enabling the system operator to operate the power system safely and securely, reducing the risk of power quality issues, disconnection of generation, and electricity outages.
We propose to amend the Code to:
- update and clarify the common quality-related information requirements in the Code
- incorporate a new system operation document containing technical specifications for the common quality-related information requirements.
The proposal follows on from our consultation Addressing common quality information requirements, which sought feedback on:
- three options to improve the provision of common quality-related information to network owners and operators; and
- placing various common quality-related information requirements in a separate system operation document incorporated by reference in the Code.
The options will be implemented in a staged approach, allowing us to first address immediate concerns. We will then turn our attention to developing solutions to enable the sharing of common quality-related information between the system operator and Transpower, as a transmission network owner, and with distributors.
We welcome your feedback on our proposal by 5pm, Tuesday 12 August 2025.
We anticipate publishing our decision on this proposal at the end of 2025.
