Correction to consultation paper: reforming network pricing for distributed generation
- Distribution
- Code
The consultation paper that seeks feedback on proposed changes to the ‘distributed generation pricing principles’ has been updated to correct an error in Appendix A.
The error relates to the ‘connection charges’ figures used in tables A.1 and A.2 that provide an illustration of the near-term impact of reallocating several different kinds of costs to distributed generators and how that could affect other people on the network (‘offtake connections’), at the national level, and across each distributor.
The tables included two types of transmission charges – benefit-based charges and connection charges. However, under the proposed changes, the benefit-based charges component is typically the only component that could be reallocated to distributed generators.
So in the corrected analysis, the benefit-based charges are reallocated, but transmission connection charges are not.
Transmission connection charges would not typically be reallocated to distributed generators under the proposals. For the purposes of this analysis, it is not practical to determine the specific cases where they could be reallocated or to estimate the level of such reallocation.
Both tables, which were included in the paper to provide additional context, have been corrected and now align with the proposals as described in the consultation paper.
Reforming network pricing for distributed generation to promote efficient investment
The error does not impact the Authority’s thinking, the proposals or anything further in the paper. We sincerely apologise for the error and any inconvenience it has caused.
As a reminder, we have extended the deadline to provide feedback on the proposals. Submissions and other feedback are due by 5pm, 19 May 2026, with cross-submissions closing 5pm, 3 June 2026.
