Insights from our flexibility workshops
- Policy
- Innovation
We have published a summary of insights following the four open workshops we held in May 2026 to discuss how to unlock more flexibility and non-network solutions across the electricity system.
A total of 128 people from across the electricity sector took part, including generators, distributors, retailers, technology providers, consumer advocates and large consumers.
Attendees were invited to provide feedback across three key areas:
- the value and visibility of flexibility
- how flexible resources access markets
- the level of confidence needed to support participation and investment.
The discussions reflected a wide range of perspectives, highlighting both the opportunities and complexity of enabling flexibility at scale.
Across the workshops, attendees highlighted the challenge that unlocking flexibility at scale will require multiple participants with different incentives working together for the benefit of consumers.
The summary sets out our understanding of the discussions, including areas where there was broad alignment and where views differed.
The Authority will use these insights as it continues to develop the flexibility work programme. We will continue to engage with stakeholders as this work progresses.
