Minor changes to retail market monitoring notice

  • Retail

Following feedback from retailers, the Electricity Authority has made some minor amendments to the clause 2.16 notice for retail market monitoring issued on 17 March 2025. The changes are technical and non-controversial.

We have changed T4.11 Time of Day from a mandatory field to a non-mandatory field in response to feedback from retailers that they do not have this information for some meter types eg, day/night meters.

We have also changed the naming convention so that participant code is no longer included in the file names and included an option to split large tables into two or more files.

The Authority has introduced mandatory retailer reporting of domestic and small business customer data to help increase transparency and accountability in New Zealand’s retail electricity market.

Retailers are required to submit data from 1 January to 31 July 2025 under the new retail market monitoring clause 2.16 notice on or before 31 August 2025 to the Authority. Following this, data will need to be submitted on a monthly basis.
