Powerswitch contract extended

  • Consumers

The Authority has extended its contract with Consumer NZ to support the operation of the electricity price comparison website Powerswitch.

The two-year extension to the agreement commences on 1 July 2023 and includes an inflation-based increase in funding. The annual level of funding will increase from $1.2 million to just under $1.4 million.

Under the terms of the new agreement, a number of enhancements will be made to the functionality of the Powerswitch website over the next two years with a top priority improving how complex retail offers, including time of use plans, are represented on the website.

The Authority’s What’s My Number price comparison website was merged with Consumer NZ’s Powerswitch website in December 2019 following a recommendation from the Electricity Price Review.
